If you are injured on the job or suffer a disease caused by or aggravated by your job, you may have a right to:
- Tax free temporary Workers’ Compensation benefits of 70% of total wages up to $903.00 per week in 2018;
- State temporary disability benefits, if you are denied Workers’ Compensation and, possibly, long-term disability benefits;
- Free medical care for your work-related injury or disease from a doctor chosen by your employer. If treatment is not provided, your attorney may file a motion for treatment. You will not be charged in advance for these legal services;
- Partial or total disability benefits if your work-related injury or disease is permanent;
- Continuous or intermittent leave under the Family Medical Leave Act of up to 3 months if you worked in a company with more than 50 workers for more than 12 months;

- Compensation from a third party, not your employer or fellow employee, if your accident or illness was caused by a third party;
- Compensation for exposure to dangerous chemicals or asbestos from the companies where you were exposed. This includes the companies that manufactured, utilized or distributed products;
- Protection under your union contract if you are in a union. If there is no union, you have a right to join a union without being discriminated against;
- All of the above rights, free from retaliation or discrimination because you seek any of these rights.
